Prior to founding New Paradigm Group, Dan spent 17 years in senior finance and treasury roles with Ameriprise Financial and its predecessor American Express Financial Advisors (AEFA). Ameriprise was spun off from American Express in 2005. Dan has extensive knowledge of the operating, financial and regulatory environs of the Insurance, Broker Dealer, Banking and Asset Management businesses.
As Vice President - Capital Markets Solutions & Treasury (Ameriprise) Dan oversaw product group derivative strategy execution and implementation - leading counterparty exposure, Sarbanes Oxley initiatives, Dodd Frank implementations and as well as performance analysis and reporting. As Vice President Treasury at Ameriprise, Dan was responsible for establishing operating companies’ balance sheet rules and tolerances regarding capital and liquidity and related forecasting and stress testing following spin-off from American Express. Additionally, Dan led corporate bank relations, equity and debt capital management, liquidity and operating capital (inter-company and external) frameworks and corporate hedge programs. In other roles, Dan led the financial teams supporting AEFA’s spread businesses (fixed annuity, fixed insurance and certificates), established a firm wide Allocated Capital paradigm in addition to various GAAP and Statutory accounting and reporting roles and responsibilities.
Dan, born and raised in Dickinson, North Dakota, attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks where he graduated with a BBA - Financial Management. He lives in Plymouth, MN with his wife and three children and volunteers in an advisory role with the local school board and his children’s sporting programs.
